Builders Supplies (West Coast) Ltd is a family firm which can trace its roots back to 1938. Having steered the company through past dips in the economy Peter Worthington, Managing Director refuses to be downbeat about the current recession.
“Now more than ever” he says “we need to promote and support the quality builder. As such we are delighted to continue our sponsorship of The Built in Quality Awards, and we congratulate the winners.”The awards recognise building excellence with winners selected by a panel of judges from the Council’s Building Control Team.
Winners were Carr Royd Leisure for an extension to Alexander Nursing Home; Turner Builders Ltd for housing at Bowman’s Yard Hambleton ; Frank Turner and Sons Ltd for an extension on Holmfield Ave and Simmons Construction for new flats at Station Court Poulton.
Mr Worthington said “ Hopefully by setting such high standards and with the support of initiatives such as the “ Get Britain Building “ campaign, local quality builders will be able to work through these difficult times .“ Get Britain Building is a coalition of organisations from within the construction sector who are calling for the creation of a new business environment to support the UK construction industry, with an emphasis on minimising excessive control, regulation, and taxation. A key partner in this pressure group is The Builders Merchants Federation which has Mr Worthington as its Regional Chairman. “The campaign has been given a boost with EU ministers paving the way for potential, significant reductions in VAT on home repairs and maintenance” he added.
If we can Get Britain Building we know where the quality is.
